As many of you know, divorce can be expensive, especially when it is being resolved through litigation. I regularly see couples in my practice who find themselves under significant financial strain during their divorce, either because they are trying to keep up with their spouse’s legal representation or because they have gotten themselves in a vicious circle of legal expenses required to complete their divorce. On average, the cost of a divorce in the UK is £14,000.

The obvious best way of avoiding an escalation of legal costs during your divorce is to try to achieve an arrangement out of court. For the fortunate ones who manage to find an agreement on their own, the divorce can end up costing less than £1000. But even those who need support will find that Family Mediation, for example, is on average 97% less costly than a litigated family law case. So what are the options for those who need extra cash during their divorce?

For this episode, I was joined today by Avni Vaghela from Rhea Family Finance. Rhea specialise in providing loans for legal fees, associated costs and a wide range of expenses for people going through the family litigation process.
