My client was a Chinese national formerly married to a British man and living in London. She had been divorced for just over a year when she sought support, at a time when ongoing difficulties with her ex-husband were significantly affecting her daily life. Although a child arrangements order was already in place, it remained vague on a number of key points, leading to repeated disagreements over its interpretation and implementation. This uncertainty fuelled conflict and made co-parenting increasingly stressful.

Her ex-husband applied to court to resolve the issues and was unwilling to engage in negotiation beforehand. Together, we worked on clarifying my client’s priorities and building a structured, realistic and child-centric proposal that could be put forward and presented to the judge. I attended the court hearing with her and supported her through negotiations conducted with her ex via his barrister.

A central focus of our work was developing creative and practical solutions that addressed her ex husband’s grievances while still giving my client the clarity and protection she needed. This approach ultimately led to a new, air-tight child arrangements order and focused on reducing scope for future conflict.
