I was joined by Matthew James, an Associate in the Immigration Department at Bates Wells. His work covers all areas in personal and business immigration, with a particular focus on family relationships and the post Brexit landscape. He brings a wealth of experience on advising employers and individuals on the implications of Brexit and the EU Settlement Scheme. Immigration is a topic that is often intertwined with family law, and divorce in particular. Divorce can impact the parents’ immigration status but also potentially their ability to visit their children if they have to leave the country. Because my work involves working with so many expats and international families, I see how often the immigration implications of divorce are ignored or misunderstood. Matthew helps us shed some light on the common mistakes people make and what to be aware of.
